Fifteen seductive luxury tents facing the sunset

Serengeti Bushtops is nestled on rolling hills that contrast with the open acacia wood and grasslands that cover one of nature’s most spectacular landscapes. Serengeti Bushtops is a Tanzanian haven, an oasis of luxury for safari seekers. Gaze out over the most amazing scenery as you watch the sunset from the comfort of your private hot tub. With the Serengeti plains stretching out over a vast ecosystem, you will witness a life that is raw, thrilling and captivating. Enjoy the fabulous cooking and delicious wines after witnessing the thrill of the annual migration across the Mara River. Be pampered by your personal butler and the friendly staff as you enjoy a combination of safari adventures, first-class facilities and relaxation. With a ringside seat at nature, enjoy vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and the silent presence of crocodiles. Lying in the path of the annual wildebeest migration, Serengeti Bushtops is also a place full of abundant wildlife viewing all year round. Out of season, travel all day without seeing another vehicle, feeling as though you have the whole of the Serengeti to yourself.

Designed to blend into its surroundings, the entire camp is under canvas with private pathways from shared spaces that lead to luxury tents that provide your own secluded haven of privacy and beauty. With twelve spacious and uniquely designed tents, they provide comfort for all. The privacy of your tent is complemented by the spaces that you can share with fellow guests to relax. Within the heart of the camp is the reception with a shop and the open-sided mess tent with lounge. Enjoy all the joys of the bar, library and wine wall as you see nature at its finest. Savour each bite of your meal as you share stories of your safari adventures with fellow guests. Wind down, read, chat, snooze or settle yourself by the cool outdoor pool with views across the Serengeti landscape.

Activities at Serengeti Bushtops Camp

One thing you will never be at Serengeti Bushtops is being bored with nothing to do. With a wide range of activities, from walking safaris, exploring across the Serengeti in 4x4s, or even take to the sky in a hot-air balloon (at an additional cost). Head out on one of the many walking safaris, starting with a delicious bush breakfast before you walk on the wild side. A qualified ranger who will help you to approach herds of impala, zebra and giraffes will guide you. If you want to see the Serengeti from a unique perspective, head out on an unforgettable balloon safari. They will pick you up before dawn so you can soar high above the herds as the sun rises. Explore the skies for an hour, see the herds galloping across the plains before they bring you back down to land for a celebratory Bush champagne breakfast.

Want to learn the basic survival skills and local culture of the Serengeti? Then enjoy the activities that are part of the Bushcraft challenge that also teaches the importance of conservation. Complete the challenges and you will earn a Bushtops certificate, perfect for all the family. Activities include learning how to make fires without the help of matches and lighters, complete an animal spotting checklist and identifying animal tracks and more. A great way to end your day over the darkening Serengeti is with the Klipspringer dining experience that has charm and intimacy. The rocks that surround the lodge are favoured by local Klipspringer antelope and form a natural amphitheatre, creating a beautiful setting for dinner. With lanterns and a bonfire to keep you warm and look over the beauty before, all while being prepared a delectable meal by the executive chef.

A classic moment that has been immortalised in films and shown in great safari adventures, is watching the sunset over the African bush. Head out to Simba’s rock, aptly named because of the lions that also enjoy this location for sundowning. Or, enjoy an exclusive moment just for you from out in the bush or from the privacy of your tent within a sunken lounge or hot tub.

Tripadvisor comments Serengeti Bushtops Camp

Wow!! What a place!! Firstly before I even start on the amazing camp and location I want to thank the staff for making our honeymoon perfect. Asanti sana! The camp, it is better than any hotel I have ever stayed in. The lodges are immaculate, comfy and have all the pros of being under canvas without the cons. ... Sunset on the decking is beautiful and sitting listening to nature in the hot tub with a glass of wine (very good quality wine as well) was the perfect way to end the day. Grayson, we cannot thank you enough for your expert driving, passion for the animals, great company and being an all round safari genius!

The camp is beautifully set, the luxury tents roomy and beautiful as well, the dining and lounge area simply magnificent with the exquisite lighting at night, the service absolutely exemplary. To top it off - the guides are wonderful (we had Kapia with John as the spotter) going above and beyond to try to make the game drives great experiences. During one drive we saw lions, a leopard and a cheetah mom with her two cubs along with countless other wonderful animals. Running the show is a justly proud larger-than-life manager Pontaleo who clearly expects top notch performance from his staff and gets it.
