A wild space to watch big cats in their natural environment

Settled in the centre of the Serengeti National Park, Serengeti Tortilis is a magnificently beautiful safari camp that leaves visitors in awe. The camp has a considerate design, not only creating a comfortable environment for guests but also having little impact upon the animals of the Serengeti. Head to the lounge area where you can relax after a long day’s adventure, play games with fellow travellers or pick up one of the many books that have information on the wildlife of the area. Lounge upon one of the large sofas as you spend time thinking about the wonders you have witnessed. If you need to quench your thirst, enjoy some time at the bar that has been fully-stocked and has an expert bartender on hand. Dive into the delectable delicacies that the chefs have to offer in the mess hall. Each meal has been designed to excite your taste buds and fuel you for the day ahead. And if you fancy enjoying a picnic, just ask the chef to whip you up a little something for the road. You can also hang out at the communal fire pit where you can watch the sunset and the stars come alive.

Every tent has been thoughtfully lain out and planned so as to create a comfortable environment. They have been built to withstand the elements, and the design encompasses 1920s safari glamour with contemporary luxury. With large double beds and canopy netting to keep the bugs at bay, you will be able to wake up and look out and see that magnificent Serengeti as the day starts. With an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower, you will be able to enjoy scrubbing off the day’s dirt before preparing for the next day’s adventures. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee on your private decking area that looks out across the vast plains, and maybe you’ll be able to sight one of the incredible wildlife species of the area.

Activities at Serengeti Tortilis Camp

Have the opportunity to see big cats in the wild with one of the daily game drives. Be led by an expert guide as they show you the favourite spots for seeing and photographing wildlife. If you time your trip right, you might even have the chance to witness the wildebeest migration as they venture across the Mara River in hopes to deliver their young on the other side. Or why not head out for a bush breakfast or lunch, sit under the shade of an acacia tree and dine on delicacies. You may also want to head out for an evening drive to try and see some of the nocturnal wildlife in the bush. Experience the Serengeti from the sky in a hot air balloon ride where you will fly above the marching herds and then settle for a bush breakfast after landing.

Head out on a traditional sundowner where you will be able to sip on drinks as the sun sets and talk about the sights that you saw throughout the day. Warm yourself around a campfire and talk to fellow travellers about the magic of these African plains. As the sun goes away for the night, the stars come out shining, so enjoy a stargazing trip where you will be able to learn about the constellations and how to navigate with them. Or why not take a yoga class out on the Serengeti, set your mind to flow as you listen to the music of nature.

Tripadvisor comments Serengeti Tortilis Camp

Literally amazing! We arrived after dark so were very surprised when we woke up to such a beautiful, exclusive location! The food is absolutely fantastic including the boxed lunches. Full bar menu which is perfect for watching sunset around the fire. The entire staff is amazing, friendly and very knowledgeable. Tents had everything we could think of, nice hot shower, working toilet, sink etc! The comfiest bed we slept in in all of Africa! ... Honestly wish we had more time at the camp. Maasai are there to protect you and watch for wild animals and honestly we never felt like we had to worry. Definitely recommend this place again and again and hope that we too get to visit it again someday!

We stayed here in March for 2 nights. Two nights before we arrived, lions had taken down a water buffalo just outside the tent next door. The privilege to stay within the park in such a remote location was an incredible gift. The staff went above and beyond at every interaction. The singing/dancing was joyous, uplifting, and made this place our favourite stay during our 2 week safari around Kenya/Tanzania. We will never forget their hospitality.
